Join RFH’s Dr. Scott Swiggard at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church for an invited lecture on the Shroud of Turin.
Excerpts from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church’s event website (http://www.felchouston.org/first-word.html):
First Lutheran will host two events centered on the resurrection of Jesus this Spring: a lecture on the Shroud of Turin and a debate on the resurrection of Jesus.
The first event will be a presentation on the Shroud of Turin by Scott Swiggard, PhD on March 21, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Scott is the president of Reasonable Faith Houston, the local chapter of William Lane Craig’s apologetics ministry. Scott has studied a wide variety of apologetics issues over the years and his presentation on the shroud will be fascinating to believers and skeptics alike.
The presentation will explore many questions that surround the famous shroud, considered by some to be the burial shroud of Jesus. Some of the questions he’ll address include:
• What details of the shroud’s image are useful clues in understanding it?
• What is the history of the shroud, especially relating to its carbon dating?
• What are the ways such an image might come to be on a shroud?
• What bearing does this have on Christian’s belief in the resurrection, if any?
Both events will be held in the sanctuary of First Lutheran at 1311 Holman Street, Houston, 77004. Both events are completely free and open to the public.
Our debates to date have had audiences of about half believers and half skeptics, so all are welcome to hear what the speakers have to say. To register for either or both of the events above, please fill out the form below. This will help us have an accurate headcount and keep you notified in the event of last minute changes. We look forward to seeing you there!
